Chapter 6
It was the day before her retirement. Harry was badly disappointed. She wanted this job to be a success. But it turned out, she had not enough time to get the job finished. The evidence was clear, but it didn't make any sense anymore.
Ray was dead, he couldn't help. Couldn't he? Who had setup the laptop if not Ray? Would he have left any notes somewhere on the hard disk? Why hadn't she thought of that before? A thorough search showed soon, that the laptop had been cleaned. No personal files, no favorites, no documents. Even the software for the 3D-environment had been reinstalled a day after Ray died. But the operating system had not been reinstalled. With a simple undelete tool she found what she was looking for, a file called 'notes.txt' in the root directory of the hard disk. It was last saved the day Ray was killed. It contained only two lines:
Wednesdays, NE 1600
Thursdays, LT 2000
She pondered for a while what NE and LT were supposed to mean. She looked up the Interactive Maps on
www.wave-design.net, selected the 'map search' at selected a list of all entries. It took quite a while to load all the stuff. There was only one entry with the initials NE: "Nene's Eye". She clicked on the Maplink in the right column to look up the location, click on the spot on the map and was teleported right there.Nene's Eye was a piece of rock located on the west coast of Ootay. There was an eye painted on the side of the rock. There were no books. She surrounded the Eye several times, searched the perimeters carefully. Nothing.
She went back to the rock. She was so close to a solution but was not able to find it. It probably was right under here nose. It was. Harry walked as close to rock as possible. A little triangle appeared, showing there was something to click on.
The bock was hidden inside of the rock …
